Stay Ahead Tutoring provides consistent, afterschool academic support for students who need more time, more attention, and more support than the school day allows.

Operating Monday through Friday, students receive structured, small-group and individualized instruction in a safe, supportive environment.

What We Do
→ Individualized Academic Support Students receive targeted help in reading, math, and core subjects based on their specific needs. Instruction is tailored—not one-size-fits-all—so students can catch up and move forward.
→ Consistency That Builds Momentum Meeting five days a week, the program creates structure and routine. That consistency helps students stay engaged, complete assignments, and avoid falling behind.
→ Mentorship Alongside Instruction Tutors don’t just teach—they build relationships. Students are supported by adults who hold them accountable, encourage progress, and celebrate growth.
→ A Safe, Structured Space After School Stay Ahead provides a reliable place for students to go after school hours—reducing idle time and offering a productive, positive alternative.

Who We Serve
We serve students from more than 15 zip codes across Louisville, with a strong connection to West End neighborhoods. Drawing from over 25 JCPS schools, the program brings together a diverse group of learners united by a shared commitment to growth and achievement.

Achievement and Impact
With more than 2,000 hours of tutoring delivered, students in the Stay Ahead program are not just participating—they are outperforming expectations. Compared to their peers, SGSI students demonstrated significantly stronger academic growth:

• 3rd Grade Reading: +12% growth vs. +2.8% in non-participating peers
• 4th Grade Reading: +14.6% growth vs. a -2% decline in peers
• 5th Grade Math: +27% growth vs. +1% in peers

According to the 2023 Program Outcomes Report, students who entered below grade-level benchmarks made significant academic gains by spring, alongside measurable improvements in confidence, engagement, and consistency.
